Approaching a year since Mines of Dalarnia’s Mainnet lunch, Workinman’s MoD team continues to improve and iterate on the fan-favorite mining platforming game. With the 1.2 update, titled “Satellites & Salvage,” the team focused on making the game more accessible to new and curious users looking, while providing perks and quality-of-life improvements for veteran miners and landowners alike.
Satellites & Salvage brings all new off-chain Salvage Missions, a welcome opportunity for new users to test the waters and hone their skills before connecting a wallet, as they require no gas or dig fee. The missions challenge players to collect Scrap and Bones, which can then be crafted into Boosters for use in paid digs to extend HP, increase the frequency of beneficial drops, or even make enemies explode when killed. With the Salvage missions open to anyone, the login flow has been revised, allowing for new players to create a traditional off-chain game account and play those missions without a wallet. When ready, they can get into paid digs by simply connecting a wallet to their existing account.
The new Satellites feature offers players a multiplayer shared space that not only serve as a hub for getting at content, but a place to hang out with friends, send emotes, wail on training-dummies, or play a game of ball. It’s a small hint at the potential of community play in the future of Mines of Dalarnia.
In addition to the above features, the team continues to improve the core experience. Several quality-of-life improvements have been made to the UI; Performance settings were added to help placers tweak the graphics to suite their preference; and various UI bug fixes and polish have also been implemented.
