Noggin’s Block Star Challenge gives young players an opportunity to play and compete together using one device!

Featuring blocky versions of Noggin fan favorites , such as PAW Patrol, Blues Clues, and Shimmer and Shine, Block Star Challenge features a multitude of quick-time-event minigames, where players have to match, stack, twist, and climb various objects in order to progress. Each critical thinking puzzle is designed to reinforce essential problem-solving skills involving colors, shapes, sizes, spacial awareness, and more. All in a bright and colorful American Ninja-themed obstacle-course as players take their block character to the finish line.

Supporting up to four players, with a fun hand-off device sharing mechanic, each player competes to earn the highest score in the shortest amount of time. Between rounds, players hand off the device to the next, player who takes on their set of puzzles before the time runs out. Whoever has the most points at the end of three gameplay rounds is crowned the winner in an epic ceremony!

Made in Workinman’s powerful HTML5 multi-platform game engine, Block Star Challenge takes stuffs a ton of adorable animations and a wide selection of gameplay variety into a lightweight app that loads in an instant. While a 2D game with hand-painted art, a new technique utilized by Workinman’s  animation team brought the Block Stars to life with fluid 3D-like movements and reactions. With giant animated backgrounds of the crowd, exciting audio design, and giant levels, it feels like competing in a massive stadium!

The versatility of the Workinman game engine allowed our developers to experiment with a multitude of different designs so that players are kept thinking and trying new approaches to solving the puzzles. It also ensures that those mechanics are compatible with a variety of hardware from mobile to desktop. Better optimization techniques make it so that there are no compromises when it comes to running the game on lower end hardware, which is often the case with younger players. 

 

Launched on April 20, 2020 in the Noggin Learning App, the game is the perfect blend of education, sharing, branding, and entertainment, developed by Workinman Interactive and brought to you by Noggin.
